Once you add a software to "Softwares" table, the last tab Window will shown, the tab name is your software name, e.g.Eye Care Software, mouse right-clicking on the grid, will popup a context menu, may be you should select "Synchronize Shareware sites" first to have a copy of all Shareware sites that in "Shareware_Sites" table or select "Add Record" to add a shareware site manually.
Assume I want to submit "Eye Care Softwre" to soft32.com, the record's id is soft32.com, the record's sub_page is http://www.soft32.com/sw.html, the steps are:
- Select the record
- Mouse right-clicking to show the context menu, Select "Open Submit Page", the build-in Web Browser will open up, and navigating to "sub_page",e.g. http://www.soft32.com/sw.html
- Click "XML" button to copy Application_XML_File_URL to clipboard, press CTRL + V to paste URL to the "PAD FILE URL" field...
- Copying and Pasting of PAD Data
- Mark site as submitted
You can also easily navigate to a site's home page by selecting "Open Home Page" from the menu. The easiest way is to click on the toolbar button with the picture of a house.
There may be times when it will be necessary to enter information from your PAD file that is not autofilled for you. This is fairly rare right now and should become completely unnecessary as we further automate the system in the near future. However, if you have to do this we have made it really painless! All you have to do is click on a button and it is automatically copied to the clipboard.
Always check your entries for accuracy and completeness before completing the submission process! You will generally have to select a category from a drop-down list box and sometimes fill in a field or two that can't be filled from your PAD file data.
If a site requires login, make sure you login first. Some sites will list your projects for you after logging in and you need to select which one you're going to work with.
Many download sites require software authors to establish an account before submitting to them. This is usually a good thing as it allows you to maintain your listings in a secure fashion and be sure that only you can manipulate them. If you already have an account with such a site, enter your username and password in the embeded WebBrowser for that site. A username often will consist of your email address or some other unique identifier. It doesn't matter - just enter whatever unique identifier has been assigned to you by the site.
Once you have properly filled in the submission form, submit it by clicking the appropriate button. If everything responds appropriatel, then you can mark this site as submitted to by right-clicking above of the browser, then select Set submit date to today, Set version to current Version... It will automatically fill in the project’s current version and today’s date. You can change this information, if needed, by modifying the data in the grid.
Many sites will list your software immediately or soon after your submission. Once you have found the page on which it is listed you should mark the project as listed with that site selecting Set listed url to current URL from the context menu.
If the site does not have a specific URL for your listing, but a search is required to view it then fill word SEARCH in the listed_utl field. If the version and date fields are incorrect then you may correct them here. You can always correct them later by modifying them in the grid.
By having an address in the listed_url field you can always easily view your listing to check to see if it's up-to-date or to view the number of downloads, user reviews, etc.
